Ricci got her first recognition and praise as a child star in her portrayal of Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family (1991) and Addams Family Values (1993) and for her performance in the film Kat Harvey in Casper (1995). Ricci shifted into roles that were more appropriate for adults in The Ice Storm (1997) which was followed by an award-winning performance on The Opposite of Sex 1998, which earned her an award as a Golden Globe nominee for Best Actress. Sleepy Hollow (1999), Monster (2003) and others that were well-received continued her career. Ricci was in the roles of Black Snake Moan, Penelope and Speed Racer.
